Summary

Fungi of the genus Armillaria cause a root disease of woody plants, known as Armillaria root rot, which is seen worldwide. The authors begin with a detailed description of the Armillaria species found in Europe, and go on to analyse their variability and biology (physiology, ontogeny, infection cycle, epidemiology, role of the environment). Lastly, they describe the disease and the damage it causes on various trees and shrubs, along with possible control methods. The book is the first guide to the disease to be published in French, and will be of interest to researchers and students as well as arboriculture and forestry professionals.
