Summary

This book presents the main theories and protocols for standard metaphase chromosome preparations, chromosome banding techniques and meiotic chromosomes. It also presents recent fluorescent in situ hybridization techniques and the developing field of flow cytometry and slit scan cytometry applied to chromosome sorting. Two chapters are dedicated to two specific chromosomes: polytene chromosomes in Drosophila and lampbrush chromosomes in amphibians. This book is aimed at clinical pathologists as well as students and technicians involved in animal and human cytogenetics.
