<p>L’environnement géologique et les différentes sources de particules sédimentaires composant les fonds de l’estuaire sont rappelés. La morphologie de l’estuaire est caractérisée en prenant en compte son évolution séculaire. La couverture sédimentaire est ensuite caractérisée ou mise à jour, en privilégiant l’étude des vases. Plus de deux mille échantillons de sédiments ont été analysés, complétés par des campagnes d’imagerie. L’évolution à long terme (échelle du siècle) et à court terme (échelle inférieure à l’année) de la couverture sédimentaire est décrite et interprétée et une prospective sur la possible évolution morphodynamique de l’estuaire est envisagée.</p>
<p>The geological environment and different sources of the sedimentary particles making up the estuary's bottom are reviewed. The estuary's morphology is characterized, taking into account its evolution over a century or so. Then the sedimentary cover is characterized or updated, focusing on the study of mudflats. In all, over two thousand sediment samples have been analyzed, complemented by acoustic imagery surveys (sidescan sonar) and underwater video. The long-term (century scale) and short-term (less than a year) changes in sedimentary cover are described and interpreted and a long-term forecast is envisaged on how the estuary will evolve in morphodynamic terms.</p>
