After a career as a research director at INRA in Bordeaux, Alain Carbonneau is professor of Viticulture emeritus at Institut Agro Montpellier. Founder of the Institute for Advanced Vine and Wine Studies (Ihev), he created training in viticulture-oenology and developed integrated research with INRA Pech Rouge. Author of innovations in management techniques, such as the lyre vine, since 1980 he has chaired GiESCO, a group of more than 300 international experts, and directs its magazine, PAV.
