Sébastien Duperron is a professor at the National Museum of Natural History. A specialist in microbial ecology, his research on symbiosis between bacteria and animals in the deep ocean has taken him to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of Guinea, and the Mediterranean Sea. He has dived with the Nautile and has also used remotely operated underwater vehicles.
