Summary

After a first chapter devoted to preliminary studies and the choice of sites, this document discusses the design of flood spillways and appurtenant structures, the design of embankment, masonry, concrete and wire-wrapped dams and, finally, the construction site with details about the construction of each type of structure. A last chapter is devoted to the surveillance and maintenance of operating dams, by the operator as well as by the concerned engineering services. Annexes provide a description of the content of a detailed project brief for a small dam as well as inspection forms for each type of structure.
