Summary

This issue of Cahiers Agricultures addresses the main lessons to be learned from the AUF (Francophone University Agency) meetings held in Rennes in July 2008. Starting from the beginnings of research into biotechnology, it reviews the rapid progress made and the complexity of this field. The regeneration of genetic resources, the resistance of plants to bioagressors and abiotic attack and the development of biotechnological tools are a few of the themes which appear in this issue.
