Jean-Claude Falguière is an engineer in hydrobiology at Ifremer. He worked on freshwater shrimp farming in the West Indies and in French Guyana between 1983 and 1991, before specialising in the rearing and genetics of tropical marine fish. He was assigned to the aquaculture laboratory in the French West Indies 1994 and has been Head of the laboratory since 2006. He has played an active role in developing the farming of red drum.
