Summary

The purpose of this book is two-fold: firstly it aims to better inform the reader about the complexity of the problems concerning water, and secondly to offer him/her a tool with which to approach this subject area. The first volume describes the water cycle and the history of water, as well as the water-soil-biosphere relationship. It deals with the issues of the aquatic environment and fish, plant-water relations, irrigation and drainage.
