Summary

At a time when some agricultural production methods are threatening the environment and public health, the purpose of this work is to recall that there exist more sustainable agricultural production systems advocating the return to grassland and grazing. Backing its evidence with scientific data, the book shows how original new practices as well as cropping and livestock farming systems have developed in Brittany, all of which have proven technically and socio-economically reliable. The book is the outcome of an action research involving INRA researchers, "researcher-farmers" and local representatives, all concerned with the common interest which binds economic issues with environment and quality of life.
