Summary

What do we know about the infinite floristic diversity and wealth of the Ile-de-France region?
Extending far beyond received ideas trying to make the capital bled dry of any natural component, this unprecedented scientific basis for our regional flora was long overdue.
After fifty years of expeditions to collect samples, meticulous verification in herbariums, a literature survey and validation of a colossal amount of collected data, the two authors present their findings in two volumes. No less than 1619 species are thus identified and linked to some 1500 distribution maps.
This complete work, of exceptional scientific quality yet still attractive and accessible, a reference assessment of the Ile-de-France flora thanks to an unrivalled regional floristic database, will enthral a wide audience.
