Torrential erosion is a natural phenomenon with worrying (if not to say dramatic) consequences in many regions of the world. It can perhaps be controlled by biological engineering. Based on a precise diagnosis of the environmental conditions, this work suggests a methodology for choosing plant species and biological engineering systems most suited to controlling erosion in torrential watersheds. This first practical and strategic guide to biological engineering in French is based on solid scientific knowledge. In addition to methodologies for practical application in the field, it presents an overview of works which can be used and how to use them.
