Ces prairies remplissent de multiples fonctions, y compris la fourniture locale de fourrage pour l'élevage (et donc une alimentation de haute qualité pour les populations), la conservation de la biodiversité, le stockage du carbone et la fourniture de paysages `` traditionnels '' que les citoyens européens apprécient à des fins récréatives et du patrimoine culturel. .

L'avenir de l'élevage des prairies en Europe est entre les mains des jeunes agriculteurs.
