Summary

Since the mid-2000s, livestock farming has been hotly debated owing to its impact on the climate and the environment in general, accentuated by the increase in world consumption of meat and dairy products. The impacts and benefits of livestock farming are studied at European level, examining their effects on markets, employment and labour, input consumption, the environment and climate, as well as the social and cultural issues associated with livestock.
