Is organised, effective knowledge which does not meet scientific criteria conceivable?

Sciences are used in all countries. Their history ties them closely to the societies which produced them. In his book, the author invites scientists and anyone "bitten" by the science bug to explore also the human dimension. Based on history and the work of a few modern thinkers (Michel Serres, François Julien, Edgar Morin and others), he guides us towards a broader and more human understanding of scientific knowledge. By agreeing to focus also on knowledge with a different rationality from our own, we enhance our perception of the world. This is not just restricted to scientific knowledge; we also have a relationship of complicity of quite a different order with the world. Designed from training seminars in philosophy of science and intended for researchers, the author takes a deliberately educational approach. He presents step by step the links between science and the human society which conceives it. He invites the reader to assume and go beyond his scientific knowledge in his own society by gradually widening his thinking skills.
